Clubs & Activities

At Birmingham Covington School, we provide a wide range of clubs that cater to the varied interests of our student body.

Joining the Debate Team helps students build confidence, strengthen public speaking skills, and think critically about important issues. Members learn to research topics, organize ideas, and present persuasive arguments while practicing respectful listening and teamwork. It’s a supportive environment where students can grow, compete, and have fun.

Math Pentathlon

Club Teacher: Julie Frishman jfrishman@birmingham.k12.mi.us

MP is a program of interactive problem-solving games, supportive curricular and instructional activities, and assessment tools for students grades 3-5. This motivational program strengthens basic math concepts and skills, aligns with National and State Mathematics Standards, and stimulates creative thinking while developing problem-solving skills. A focus on conceptual understanding and the integration of spatial, computational and logical reasoning are key attributes of Math Pentathlon. By using specially designed games and activities that differentiate instruction, all students are motivated to enjoy math!

BCS Lego Robotics 2025

BCS Lego robotics club is a student-centered program focused on hands-on learning in STEM through designing, building, and programming. Students participating in this program will team up and work on building and improving their own structure/robot. Teams will choose an event category and compete in that category.

VEX ROBOTICS

BCS Vex Robotics 2025

BCS middle school VEX robotics club is a student-centered program focused on hands-on learning in STEM through designing, building, and programming robots. This club will compete in at least one event, like the VEX Robotics Competition, which involves solving a new engineering challenge each year through a combination of a 15-second autonomous period and a 1 minute 45 second driver-controlled period. Beyond competitions, this club will develop valuable skills like collaboration, critical thinking, and leadership.

Ambassadors

BCS Ambassadors

We are looking for enthusiastic, dedicated students to serve as ambassadors for prospective new families. Students represent the school culture, educate families, offer insights, give tours, and showcase why the school is a great place to be!

Open to 4-8 grade students. Application due by Friday, October 10, at 11:59 pm.
